The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is administered to prospective ELP students in grades 4 – 8. It can also be given to students in grade 3 who have taken the Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices (Raven SPM) and need more cognitive information. Order the CogAT. |
For third grade students the CogAT can be administered
after the Raven SPM testing has occurred and it has been determined that
more cognitive information is necessary. Since the Raven SPM is administered during two different district-specified
weeks, the CogAT would be given shortly following those weeks. The
CogAT may be given to a single student or to a small group of students. |
For grades four through six the CogAT is administered when a student
has been recommended for the Extended Learning Program. There is no district-specified
time of year for this to take place. The CogAT may be given to a single
student or to a small group of students. |
For middle school students the CogAT is offered during two different district specified weeks. Students who
have been recommended for the Extended Learning Program are tested either during the first quarter or the
third quarter. |
