proofreading
Proofreading takes such little time but it pays such huge dividends. I implore you to proofread all writing you turn in. Whether it's for the HSGQE, a teacher, a parent, a friend, or even an enemy, getting into the habit of proofreading your writing will help you find errors that you overlooked during the original draft. It confounds me when I run across a student's writing that was never proofread. I always wonder aloud that if it wasn't good enough for them to read once, why should I care?
As a college student, proofreading my papers (over and over again) more often than not resulted in my earning of a higher grade. The same holds true for you. Proofread, proofread, proofread!
